Denouement Dashboard - Australia

Denouement Dashboard - Australia

This is the place I will cover the stats of each country as we go.

As usual, follow along at:

Anyway, let's get into it:

Australia: 25/11/23 - 8/2/24

Tracks:

Rough rules: I will count the flight (or bus) TO that country as tracks IN that country.

Planes:

  • Singapore - Bali - Brisbane = 1,668 km

Automobiles:

  • About 3,000 km - but we were down to one car for most of it because I had sold mine when we were in Argentina…because money
  • Between Brisbane and the Gold Coast (caught up with Sasha and Diana, went to Raja and Lou’s wedding)
  • To Broken Head then Sydney
  • Then back to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast; Gold Coast again and Toowoomba (mostly for Casey’s pole dancing gallivanting around the countryside)

Walking:

  • I just gave us a flat 50km for this period; I dunno, we had started to lose track by this time.

Total = 4,718 km

Expenses:

Rough rules: I will count the flight (or bus) TO that country as an expense IN that country.

Total expense: $18,029.56 AUD

Total Days: 76 Days inclusive

Expense per day = $237.23 AUD/Day

Expenses Breakdown (mathematical, not emotional):

Travel Bingo:

  • The Influencer - II
  • The TikTok Dweeb - I

An explanation of Travel Bingo is here.

Culinary Corner by a Non-Foodie:

  • Australia has the best coffee and breakfast food in the world; and it’s not even close.

Tips and Tricks:

  • I suppose we are going to have a lot to say about house sitting

We had nowhere really to live when we got back, so naturally we crashed with family for a while.

Fortunately, Casey is the most personable person on earth, so a quick advertisement on social media had us a bunch of holiday housesitting/petsitting gigs. Which was easy and very convenient.

Recommendations:

  • The drive between Brisbane and Sydney is actually very easy and uncomplicated. Consider taking the drive over Australia’s famously (more and more so) unreliable domestic flights.

Summary:

  • It was fun to finish off the year with a slow, unemployed homeless Australian summer.
  • Road trips down the east coast stopping at beaches is fun.

Thanks for reading along.

The next update will be the wrap up. The trip is done.

Luke.
